ProShop: if quality and traceability run your business
ProShop was built by a machine shop for precision manufacturers, and its pitch is that quoting, jobs, the shop floor and the quality system all live in one record. In a 2026 r/manufacturing thread, a commenter said ProShop handles nonconformances better than most because job routing and inspection steps share the same record. If you're AS9100 or ITAR and audit time is painful, put ProShop on your demo list. One older r/ERP comment noted it lacks built-in accounting, so you'd likely keep QuickBooks or similar; confirm that in your demo.
Fulcrum: if you want modern and cloud-first
Fulcrum is a cloud ERP/MES covering quoting, job tracking, inventory, quality and scheduling. Its Autoschedule feature re-plans from live production data, which matters if your schedule changes every time a hot job comes in. In an April 2026 r/manufacturing thread, a commenter said Fulcrum's pricing includes unlimited users based on revenue, which can make it competitive. Another shop in a different thread called it expensive for their size. Ask for the number in writing.
JobBOSS²: if you want the familiar default
JobBOSS² covers quoting, job costing, scheduling and inventory and has a long history in job shops, so there are plenty of consultants and integrations around it. It's also the only one of the three with a clearly AI-labeled feature we could confirm, the AI BOM Builder add-on. Shop Floor Index lists a 3-6 month implementation. Forum opinions are mixed: one commenter said they'd used JobBOSS but wouldn't recommend it today, while others are happy long-term users. Its sister product, E2 Shop System (ECI), is another ECI option.
Plan for the switch, not just the software
Whichever you pick, the hard part is moving: open jobs, routings, customer and part history, and inventory counts. Ask each vendor what they migrate for you, what you have to clean up yourself, and whether you can run both systems side by side for a few weeks. Shops that rush the cutover tend to blame the software for problems that were really in the data.
How to decide
- Write down your five must-have workflows (for example: quote to job, material lot trace, NCR on a live job, first article, invoice).
- Make each vendor run those workflows live in the demo with your own sample data.
- Get all-in pricing for three years, including implementation and training.
- Ask for two references from shops your size in your industry, and call them.

Frequently asked questions
Is ProShop better than JobBOSS?
It depends on your shop. ProShop's strength is quality and traceability built into the same record as the job, which suits aerospace, defense and medical work. JobBOSS² is a widely used traditional job shop ERP with many integrations. Demo both with your own workflows.
Is Fulcrum cheaper than ProShop?
Neither publishes prices. Third-party listings suggest ProShop from about $500/month and Fulcrum from about $800/month, but actual quotes depend on users, modules and implementation. A Reddit commenter said Fulcrum prices on revenue with unlimited users.
Which ERP integrates with Paperless Parts?
All three. Paperless Parts' integrations page lists ProShop, Fulcrum, JobBOSS and JobBOSS², plus E2, MIE Trak Pro, Epicor, Plex and others.
Does JobBOSS² have AI?
Yes, an AI BOM Builder add-on that drafts bills of materials from PDFs, spreadsheets and images, according to ECI and Shop Floor Index.
